Bank of Ireland

Money Smarts

The challenge:

A key strand of the Bank of Ireland Financial Wellbeing strategy is their Youth Financial Literacy Programme.

Financial literacy is a vital skill for teenagers because it not only helps them to manage their money today, it ensures that they can manage their money in the future. But getting teenagers interested, involved, and invested in their financial future can be challenging.

Our brief was to create a programme that would truly resonate with a young, disengaged teenage audience, with little to no interest in financial education. We needed to build on existing Bank of Ireland primary school initiatives and create a platform that would continue the conversation into secondary schools encouraging teachers and schools to put a real focus on financial wellbeing.

The solution:

We launched the Bank of Ireland Money Smarts Challenge - a financial education programme & quiz.

In the first instance working with Bank of Ireland, we developed a series of content for use on the Money Smarts website. Here teachers could find customised lesson plans, teaching guides, sample quizzes and book 1:1 virtual financial wellbeing talks for their class.

Schools could also enter The Money Smarts Challengea financial literacy based nationwide quiz giving them the chance to win €‎25,000 for their school.

For the Money Smarts Grand Final we partnered with Ireland’s leading digital TV studio so that we could produce a TV quality show which was broadcast across the schools and homes of the country.

Hosted by social media influencers and National Broadcasters, James Patrice and Lottie Ryan, the final production was based on knockout rounds until we got to the final winning school.
